Vacuum forming is a inexpensive rapid prototyping process. Design ideas can be quickly tested, and modified. A “Buck” or “Form” is made from urethane foam, or “Renshape” to serve as the pattern for the design. Multiple copies of the shape can then be made very quickly. Vacuum formed parts are typically made from plastic and can be transparent, or painted to match a particular color or texture. Small production runs can be made very cost effectively.
